Generic Voltaren Usage In Dealing With Pain
Pain is a signal of disease that is one of the main presenting symptoms that takes a person to the doctor. It is essentially a protective mechanism that helps in maintaining the homeostasis of the body. Pain can be otherwise defined as an unpleasant sensation localized to a part of the body.
Pain can be described in various ways. Broadly it is:
Penetrating or tissue destructing process;
Stabbing, burning, twisting, tearing, squeezing, throbbing, pricking, etc
Bodily/ emotional reaction;
Terrifying, nauseating, sickening, etc
Pain exhibits a duality, that is, it has a sensation and emotion. There are two types of pain;
Fast pain
Slow pain
Fast pain is a sharp, acute and pricking pain that takes only 0.1 second to be perceived after stimulus. It is well localized and mostly confined to the skin. Slow pain takes more than a second which is due to tissue destruction and is poorly localized. It is usually aching, burning or throbbing pain.
Pain can be static or progressive or regressive. Sometimes the site and the nature of pain help to find out the exact site of pain. Dull aching pain is usually a mild continuous pain. Burning sensation is experienced in peptic ulcer and reflux esophagitis. Any pyogenic abscess presents as a throbbing pain. Pain that is felt during micturition and in cases of inflammation of the genital tract is described as scalding pain. Injury to the peripheral nerve presents as pins and needles sensation.
Pain along the sciatic nerve is usually a shooting pain whereas in cases of perforation of ulcer, the person might experience sudden, severe, sharp and short lived pain.
The characteristic constricting pain on the chest indicates angina pectoris. It is described as iron band tightening around chest.
The worst type of pain is the colicky pain. The person swoons and rolls down on the floor due to unbearable pain. It has a sudden onset and disappearance. It is of gripping nature and is associated with vomiting and sweating. It is typically seen in intestinal, appendicular, ureteric and biliary disease conditions.
Some of the pain are physiologically important and does not require any serious medical attention. The best example of physiological pain is the muscular aches that a person has after a week long work out. A week end heavy workout would give you a dull aching pain in the muscles. Especially when it is the thigh, legs and calf muscles, it might even restrict your movements and make your gait funny. Pain killers or analgesics should not be used for such. It might relieve you of the pain but the work out would be a waste otherwise. As the saying goes- “no pain, no gain”. Even for tension type and exertional headaches, rest is the best medicine.
But other medical conditions require analgesics like Voltaren (or generic Voltaren equivalents can be used for the same). The first and foremost thing is that you have to consult your physician. His primary aim is to identify the source and cause of pain. Then he would be prescribing Voltaren in the appropriate dosage for relieving pain.
