Close Relationship Between Depression, ED, And Ischemic Heart Disease
The continuous deposition of the cholesterol and severe plaque formation obstruct the flow of oxygenated blood to the heart. Ischemic heart disease is characterized by an imbalance between the supply of oxygen and the myocardial demand. A decrease in the blood supply to the heart caused by constriction or obstruction of the blood vessels is called as Ischemic heart disease. In general, ischemia can be described as inadequate flow of blood to particular organ or part of the body. The complicated stage of coronary artery disease results in ischemic heart disease. The high cholesterol levels in the blood, high sugar level in the blood, overweight, hypertension, smoking and atherosclerosis causes’ coronary heart disease which in complicated stage is called as ischemic heart disease.
There seems to be a close relationship between depression, ED, and ischemic heart disease per research studies. Though Viagra can be used to treat ED, it is important to discuss the dosages with your physician for several drugs used to treat heart disease might be interfering and risk producing when Viagra is taken in higher dosages.
Treatment of lipid abnormalities has shown to delay the progression of atherosclerosis and in some cases has even produced regression of the atherosclerotic plaques. Angina pectoris is a kind of symptom seen with ischemic heart disease patient which gives chest discomfort associated with abnormal myocardial function in the absence of myocardial necrosis. Ischemic heart disease is considered to be a serious condition which causes heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, stable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, myocardial infarction and also causes sudden death. This disease can be cured by controlling smoking, diabetes mellitus, obesity and hypertension. Beta-blockers, nitrates, calcium channel antagonists and anti-platelet drugs are the most common medications available. Beta-blockers reduce the resting heart rate and so reduce the demand for oxygen. Beta-blockers and nitrates have been used to reduce the incidence of the heart attacks and sudden deaths. Nitroglycerin is a nitrate which causes the dilation of the blood vessels. There are short-acting and long-acting nitrates. This tablet can be placed under the tongue or inhalation of the oral spray usually relieves the symptom of angina within minutes. The effect of these short-acting nitrates lasts for half-an-hour. Usually long-acting nitrates are taken up to 4 times in a day. They are available as tablet, skin-patches or paste. Calcium channel blockers prevent the blood vessels from constricting and thus prevent coronary artery spasm.
First aid can be given to people who experience heart attacks due to ischemic heart disease. The first thing to do is to check the responsiveness of the patient like making sure that the patient is listening to what you are saying. Leave an open airway for the person to breathe in without any difficulty by not crowding over the patient. Check the breathing of the person to confirm that he is just suffering from pain. Always look for chest movement to confirm the the person is breathing. You can also feel the air on cheek. If there breathing is too slow pinch the nose closed and opens the mouth, by lifting the chin up. If you are confident about the breathing, then check for pulse. By checking the pulse you can assess the circulation. If there is no circulation, start to compress the chest. This is done by pressing the chest using the hands at a greater speed and also with force of 100bpm. Continue the bumping till the patient response by coughing.
